The impact of charitable giving 💚
We were delighted to welcome Chris Curtis MP to Milton Keynes University Hospital for a special visit highlighting the vital role Milton Keynes Hospital Charity plays in enhancing patient care across MKUH.
During the visit, Chris joined our charity team for a guided tour of the MKUH Cancer Centre, where he met some of our incredible colleagues and experienced first‑hand the calm, supportive environment they create every day.
Since the Cancer Centre opened in 2020, charitable donations have continued to transform patient and family experience. As part of the visit, we showcased a number of enhancements made possible through the generosity of our donors, fundraisers and community partners, including:
✨ Specialist reclining treatment chairs for the chemotherapy ward
✨ Additional medical equipment that supports patient comfort and care
✨ Scalp coolers, helping to reduce hair loss during chemotherapy
✨ A dietician-approved snack cupboard for inpatients
✨ Beautiful therapeutic gardens designed to offer a peaceful retreat
✨ Artwork and interior features that help create a welcoming, calming environment
Walking through the centre and seeing these enhancements being used every day served as a powerful reminder of the difference charitable giving makes. These extras – often small in size but huge in impact – help patients and their families feel supported, comforted and cared for during some of their most challenging moments.
A privilege to share our work
Talking about the charity’s work is always a privilege, but being able to demonstrate the impact firsthand offered Chris a real insight into how donations enhance services across MKUH.
From improved comfort during treatment to dedicated spaces that promote wellbeing, each charitable addition helps make hospital care the best it can be.
