IKEA Continues Support for Baby Bereavement Team

A Thoughtful Donation Making a Lasting Difference

Milton Keynes Hospital Charity would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to IKEA Milton Keynes for their continued support of Milton Keynes University Hospital’s Baby Bereavement Team through another generous donation of white box frames.

The frames, received by Specialist Bereavement Midwife Tracy Rea, are used to create treasured keepsakes for families who have experienced the devastating loss of a baby. These special memory frames often contain casts or prints of a baby’s tiny feet or hands, providing families with something tangible to hold onto and cherish in the years ahead.

While small in appearance, these frames can hold a lifetime of memories and offer comfort during an unimaginably difficult time.

Creating Precious Memories

The Baby Bereavement Team at MKUH works tirelessly to support families through some of the most challenging moments they will ever face. Memory-making items, such as these frames, play an important role in helping families to remember their babies.

Thanks to the ongoing generosity of IKEA Milton Keynes, more families will be able to receive these precious keepsakes, creating lasting reminders of the love they hold for their children.

Gift-in-kind donations such as this help us provide additional support beyond standard NHS provision, ensuring families receive compassionate care and meaningful comforts when they need them most.

A Donation That Touched So Many

The social media post announcing the donation prompted an outpouring of heartfelt responses from families who have been supported by the Baby Bereavement Team over the years.

Many shared how much their memory frames continue to mean to them:

“As a mum who has her daughter’s feet displayed on her shelf, I cannot thank you enough. My daughter passed away 14 years ago and her little feet are still captured as perfectly today as they were the day Tracy cast them.”

Another parent reflected on the lasting impact of the support they received:

“I was given the keepsake of her precious little feet which I will treasure forever.”

Several families spoke of the comfort these keepsakes bring every day:

“My son and daughter-in-law proudly have their little boy’s feet cast in one of the frames. Forever grateful.”

“I treasure my frame so much. My daughter’s footprints have been with us since we lost her in 2023 and I am so thankful to have this lovely memory from her.”

One family summed up the impact of both the donation and the bereavement service beautifully:

“Thank you IKEA and thank you to the amazing Tracy Rea. We have our special foot casts we get to look at every day and they mean the absolute world to us.”
