Likelike Pets Bring Comfort to Patients Living with Dementia
We are delighted to share that a collection of lifelike breathing pets has arrived on Oak Wards at Milton Keynes University Hospital, helping to provide comfort, reassurance and companionship to patients living with dementia.
These specially designed pets gently mimic breathing and are used to support people who may be feeling anxious, confused or distressed during their hospital stay. For many patients, they can bring a sense of calm, encourage interaction, stimulate memories and provide valuable emotional comfort at a time when familiar surroundings and routines are greatly missed.
Funded Through our Dementia Appeal
We are incredibly grateful to Milton Keynes Lions Club for their generous donation, which funded the purchase of these lifelike pets. The club chose to support our newly launched Dementia Appeal, helping us take another important step towards creating a more dementia-friendly environment at MKUH.
Their kindness is already making a difference to patients and their families, providing moments of connection, comfort and joy during what can often be a challenging hospital experience.
