Distraction packs for young people facing a mental health crisis

Earlier this year, we received funding to support young people coming into Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust following a mental health crisis.

These funds were mainly raised through our Big Give Christmas Challenge Campaign, which met its target thanks to some amazing individual donors, and our friends at PJ Care and ECG Healthcare Group.

Our children’s ward team having been using the items we purchased for a few months now and the “distraction packs” we made up are handed out to patients to provide comfort, distraction and a talking point between staff and patients.

The packs have been described by parents and patients as “wholesome” “fun” “helpful” and “a great way to pass the time” – keeping in mind some patients will be in for weeks at a time.

Thank you so much to all our supporters for helping us make a difference – in the photo is our ward manager Natalie and play specialist Zoe with a display of the items we have bought!
