This month we have loved working with Pi Group, a furniture and interior consultancy, who completely transformed – at no cost to us! – a side room in the children’s emergency department.
The side room, which is used annually by hundreds of children and young people coming into hospital following a mental health crisis, has been changed from a plain, clinical space into a colourful yet calming sensory experience for our patients – featuring distraction equipment, lights and super comfortable seating.
Senior Sister for Children’s ED, Bacardi Cranston said: “I can’t believe the difference this is making to patients, and their families too. We’re seeing a 20% increase in the number of children and young people coming into ED with mental health or behavioural issues and tailoring the room to their needs really helps. Thank you so much to the Pi Group team for helping us create this.”
Managing Director at Pi, Penny Barral, said: “It’s our pleasure to be able to support Bacardi and the team in this way. We’ve worked with Milton Keynes Hospital Charity on several projects across the Trust, so to be able to give something back is just incredible.
