School crazy hair day raises £400 for Milton Keynes Cancer Centre

On Friday 8 February, pupils from St Mary Magdalene Catholic Primary School held a special crazy hair day to raise money for Milton Keynes Hospital Charity’s Cancer Centre Appeal.

The event, which was organised by school governor and UK Galaxy Pageant finalist Ify Oduko, was aimed at raising awareness of the appeal as well as much needed funds.

Ify wanted to support a charity close to her heart, and said: “The event was in loving memory of my late father who was affected by cancer. Supporting the cancer centre appeal and being able to give back to my local community is really important to me. It was such a fun day and I’d like to thank all the pupils and staff at the school for getting involved and helping to raise more than £400!”

Jenny Howells, Senior Fundraiser at Milton Keynes Hospital Charity, said: “It has been a pleasure working with Ify and St Mary Magdalene School on their crazy hair day. The money raised will help bring us a step closer to our target of £2.5m to build the new cancer centre – we can’t say thank you enough.”
