Midsummer Cancer Centre Gala Ball is a glittering success!

250 people attended Milton Keynes Hospital Charity’s second Gala Ball on Friday 24 June, in aid of the Cancer Centre at Milton Keynes University Hospital.

And the charity is delighted to share that it raised £52,000, thanks to the generosity of guests, sponsors, a raffle and live and silent auctions.

The Gala Ball was held at the DoubleTree by Hilton at the Stadium MK, and as well as dinner and dancing, guests were treated to very special performances from homegrown talent at the Romeo Dance Academy and independent theatre school Arts1.

This was swiftly followed by a grand auction, with celebrity auctioneer Charles Hanson giving guests the opportunity to win prizes donated by Woolfe Jewellery, MK Dons, photographer Gill Prince, local charity MK Snap and local businessman and philanthropist Niraj Kapur.

The evening was hosted by actress and singer Laura England.

“The evening was a huge success and we are delighted to have raised so much money for the cancer centre. Funds raised help make every patient feel special. They help bring comfort and give a much better experience to those coming through our doors.”

Associate Director for the charity, Vanessa Holmes

“The 250 people who attended the evening had a very enjoyable night and we are extremely grateful for their generosity and to the generosity of our sponsors.

Chair of the Gala Ball Committee, Jan Flawn CBE

A huge thanks also go to our organising committee and everyone who supported our event, including donors, sponsors – including our lead sponsors My Milton Keynes and Oakwood Resources – and those who attended.

All the funds raised are supporting the Cancer Centre at Milton Keynes University Hospital, which is transforming cancer care for the local area. Over the last year referrals have risen by up to 50%, so the charity is raising funds to continue enhancing patient experience. This includes funding extra special and additional medical equipment; more comfortable chairs or funding additional seating in the centre’s green spaces.
