Items You Fund: Vein Finders

A new vein finder for Children’s ED

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we have recently been able to fund a vein finder for our busy Children’s Emergency Department. This follows the incredible fundraising efforts of our Children’s ED team, who regularly go above and beyond to support projects and equipment for their department, from bake sales in MKUH Main Entrance to taking part in the Newport Pagnell Carnival, raising vital funds to make a real difference for children and families receiving care at MKUH.

What is a Vein Finder?

A Vein Finder is a portable device that uses advanced technology to help healthcare professionals identify veins beneath the skin. The equipment can be adjusted to suit different ages, body types and skin tones, making it a valuable tool across a wide range of hospital departments .By helping staff locate veins more easily, it can make procedures such as blood tests and cannulation more efficient and comfortable for patients.

For patients with smaller or harder-to-find veins – particularly children – procedures can sometimes be challenging and distressing. Vein Finders help reduce the need for repeated attempts, making the process quicker and less invasive.

Vein Finders Help Make Procedures Quicker, Easier and Less Stressful for Patients

Children’s ED is not the only area to benefit from this innovative technology. Find out more about other departments at MKUH that have benefitted from charitably funded vein finders.
