Work begins on the new Wellbeing Lounge at MKUH

We’re delighted to share that construction has officially begun on the brand‑new Wellbeing Lounge situated next to our Cancer and Radiotherapy Centres at Milton Keynes University Hospital. this milestone marks not just the start of building works, but a celebration of what our community can achieve together. (And yes — expect lots more updates and photos, including plenty of high‑vis moments from the Milton Keynes Hospital Charity team and Nisha, our brilliant MKUH Estates Project Manager!) 🎉

This dedicated space has been funded entirely through donations to Milton Keynes Hospital Charity 💚

A welcoming space for patients and their families

Designed with a homely, comforting feel, the Wellbeing Lounge will sit away from busy clinical areas, offering a peaceful retreat for local people affected by cancer. Once complete, it will provide:

This lounge will play an important role in supporting both emotional and practical wellbeing for patients and their families during some of the most challenging times in their lives.

Driven by partnership and passion

The project has been brought to life through the hard work, collaboration, and dedication of many people — from colleagues across MKUH’s cancer services and estates teams to our incredible donors, fundraisers, and project partners who continue to go above and beyond.

What happens next?

With construction now underway, we’ll be sharing regular updates as the space takes shape — including progress photos, stories from the team, and a first look inside once it’s ready to open.
