A Flurry of Fundraising and Awareness Activity at MKUH

We have been proud to support two inspiring fundraising and awareness days at MKUH recently – each shining a spotlight on two important causes and the incredible colleagues who champion them. From raising awareness of tuberculosis to supporting families through bereavement, these events showcased the compassion, dedication and community spirit at the heart of our hospital.

World TB Day

To mark World TB Day, the MKUH TB team delivered a week of engaging and informative activities, supporting the World Health Organisation’s theme: “Yes! We can End TB!” We supported the team when they hosted two awareness stalls in our Main Entrance area and outside our Eaglestone Restaurant. The team met with colleagues, patients and visitors to:

Share key information on TB prevention and treatment

Promote early diagnosis and treatment pathways

Challenge myths and reduce stigma

Offer interactive activities and competitions

Their efforts helped spark important conversations and highlight the crucial work being done at MKUH to tackle TB locally and support global efforts to end the epidemic. They were also able to raise important funds that means they can purchase more promotional materials to take out into the community.

Specialist midwife Tracy once again held her annual chocolate tombola in our Main Entrance area. Thanks to her enthusiasm – and the generosity of staff and visitors – the event raised over £700 for the Milton Keynes Hospital Charity Baby Bereavement Fund.

This fund helps provide compassionate support to families experiencing the loss of a baby, offering comfort items, specialist resources, and improvements to bereavement spaces.

Tracy and the team are currently fundraising for a laser engraving machine that will be used to engrave names on to the pebbles that are placed in our baby bereavement garden.

The Baby Bereavement Garden is a peaceful, dedicated space on the hospital grounds where families can go to remember and honour their babies. Designed to offer comfort and quiet reflection, the garden features thoughtful landscaping, memorial pebbles, and gentle surroundings that provide a meaningful place for parents and loved ones to spend time, reflect, and feel supported during their grief.

The laser engraver costs £3,679.00. If you would like to help Tracy reach her goal, you can donate here.
