Mat – Milton Keynes Police Officer
In September 2018, Milton Keynes police officer Mat challenged himself to an 88 mile walk along the Thames Path to raise funds for the children’s wards at Milton Keynes University Hospital.
Mat, whose wife Natalie is a senior sister on the ward, wanted to raise money to buy new toys to entertain poorly children on the ward – setting himself a target of £1,000!
Mat said, “I knew it was going to be tough, especially walking through the night, but I was certain I could do it. Just thinking of how happy the children would be with new toys made it worthwhile. To add some extra fun to the challenge, I completed the walk dressed like the much-loved Where’s Wally book character.”
Mat’s efforts helped to raised over £1,400 – an amazing amount.
Mat dedicated his walk to the memory of paediatric research nurse Sally Conway, who sadly died in July.
